I've just uploaded the draft page of The Syndicate: Volume 2, which means the whole series is now available as free downloads on my site. I haven't finished updating the rest of the site to match yet, so you may need to use the links below for the moment to find the pages:

Volume 1
Volume 2
Volume 3
Four Leaf Clover

Volumes 1 and 2 are actually parts 1 and 2 of a single novel constructed as a fix-up. Volume 3 is a sequel which follows on immediately from the end of Volume 2. Each volume is around 40,000 words. Four Leaf Clover is a novelette set some time after the end of Volume 3.

ETA: Just on the off-chance there's someone reading this who doesn't realise, this is a gay erotic romance series. The first chapter of volume 1 is more or less work-safe, but the rest of it isn't.

I've uploaded The Syndicate: Volume 1 to my website. This is a draft page, so please let me know if there are any problems with it. I may get to Volume 2 later today, but I need to have a break from the computer for a while.

Apparently it's "nag Jules about The Syndicate" week. Thus, I have dumped vol3 and Four Leaf Clover into HTML and uploaded them to the website for the benefit of those who bought the print edition of the first two volumes and didn't get to the other two pieces until after they'd gone out of print. I will prettify it at some point, and tidy the links. And eventually do the first two volumes as well.

I've just had another letter asking whether I can sell someone a copy of the later Syndicate books. The answer is that I can't sell (or give away) the Loose Id editions, because I don't hold the copyright in that specific edition. I would need to produce my own edition first, which would take a certain amount of work.

What I was vaguely thinking of doing was serialising the whole thing on my website next year, perhaps one chapter a month. Not promoting it, but just making it available to anyone who was looking for it. But I've had several requests specifically for Vol 3 and Four Leaf Clover, from people who'd bought the first two books but not got to the others before they went off sale. So I think I'm going to put up Four Leaf Clover first, as that's a single novelette and should be relatively easy to format. I probably won't have time to do anything about it for a couple of weeks, but at some point I will be asking for people to test the download to see if it works.

[livejournal.com profile] sarahf has done an analysis of the power dynamics in The Syndicate and tied it into some of the things going on in romance novels in general. Obviously I have a rather large bias here, but I think it's an interesting analysis with some useful things to say, and worth the attention of a few people on my flist:

Volume 3 of The Syndicate has just been released at Fictionwise, so there's another 40 kwords or so of gay geek romantic comedy now available from Fictionwise as well as direct from the publisher. Here's the blurb:

Because geeks have sex lives too...
A renegade sysadmin looking for a way out of his boring job, Allard's escaped to space. Now he's on the Mary Sue, a spaceship with a slightly nutty crew of syndicalists who have an even more malevolent attitude toward traditional management structures than he does. Much to his surprise, Allard's found co-workers he actually likes, and a man he more than likes. Now Allard and his new love are getting married. But who's going to be the bride, and who the groom? And what will Mark wear? When the fitting's done, the parents settled, and the sex games are over, they'll be glad they found Something Blue.
